Tax Planning Engine

Certain engagements extend beyond conventional tax planning. They call for a comprehensive, collaborative approach that spans legal, risk, exit, and wealth planning. We work alongside your existing advisors to carry out both event-driven and long-term tax mitigation strategies. Engagements are by invitation, based on each client's circumstances, their advisory team, and their readiness to act on our recommendations.

Our tax planning engine was built in-house to support the advice we give. Each engagement begins with your filed returns, models federal and state tax across your household and businesses, and evaluates every strategy against your actual figures before it becomes a recommendation.

Method

From the filed return to a considered plan

PLN — 01

Grounded in your filed returns

We begin with what you have already filed: your individual, business, and state returns. Each is reconciled to a single baseline, with any inconsistencies flagged for review.

PLN — 02

Reconciled before any planning

Extracted figures are tied out against the return itself and the tax is recomputed, so every recommendation rests on numbers that match what was filed.

PLN — 03

The full structure, modeled

Federal and state tax across S corporations, partnerships, sole proprietorships, and rentals, each modeled as its own entity, with PTET, officer compensation, QBI, and passive-loss, basis, and at-risk limits taken into account.

PLN — 04

Alternatives, measured side by side

Alternative scenarios are tested against the baseline, with projected federal and state liability shown across a multi-year horizon.

PLN — 05

Informed by our library

144 vetted planning ideas from the firm's own library, spanning entity structure, owner compensation, retirement plans, real estate, charitable giving, SALT and PTET, equity compensation, and estate planning. Each is documented with its triggers, diagnostic questions, implementation steps, and pitfalls.

PLN — 06

A written analysis

The result is a Tax Planning Analysis: a prioritized action plan and multi-year outlook, with each strategy's estimated savings, implementation cost, complexity, and compliance risk set out plainly, together with federal and state estimated payments.

Our approach

Advice built to be acted on

WHY — 01

Your figures, not rules of thumb

Savings are modeled against your own baseline. Where strategies are combined, they are measured together, so their interaction is reflected rather than counted twice.

WHY — 02

Cost and risk, stated plainly

Each recommendation is weighed against the cost of implementing it and the compliance risk it carries, not the headline savings alone.

WHY — 03

Federal and state, considered together

Both returns are modeled in tandem, so a federal benefit that carries a state-level cost is visible before any decision is made.
